Weekend of November 14th - Stinson Beach and more Beach

Last Friday Sebastian, Melanie, Solomon and I went ice skating at the Oakland Ice Rink. It was great! To check on the public skate hours simply follow this link: http://www.oaklandice.com. Here is a funny photo of me trying to help Solomon skate and one of Sebastian and Melanie on the ice for the first time.

After skating my legs were pretty tired and I was to be running the Stinson Beach 20Km with Bral and Toro so it was off to bed.
Saturday morning was beautiful. There was no marine layer, no clouds, and the temperature was perfect. Toro, Bral, and I laced up our shoes and headed to the starting line for our run. The course goes from the beach, up Steep Ravine Trail, makes a couple loops at the top of the hill, then heads back down to the beach. 2280feet vertical gain in 12.5 miles (20Km). Click for more Race Information. I finished with an average speed just under 11min miles. This was the hardest 11min/mile run I've ever done. All that being said, the path up wasn't that tough because of all the bottle necks on the trail you end up walking a lot. Here is the first bottle neck, about 150m into the race, and then during the uphill climb - you literally do have to climb a ladder!

After the race Bral, Toro and I ate lots of candy provided by the race organizers, then I met Monica on the Beach. It was a beautiful day on the beach. After sunset, we headed to Ocean Beach to meet up with a gang of friends having a bon fire there. It was amazing. I think there was a fire every 50m on the beach. It looked like the whole beach was on fire. It was awesome! We met some high school members of a ballet team and also played some stick ball. Finally, retired for the evening about 2am. We had a great time. Here is one of my favorites from the evening when Kim was playing Hide and Go Seek - hiding between Bral's knees!

Sunday was another day on the Beach. I had a lazy breakfast with Toro, Bral, and Monica on top of Portero Hill. And then met up with Yu, Kim, Messy, Adam, Jess, Elana, Hoeft, Casper, Kate, and Becka for some volleyball in Alameda. My camera was out of batteries so I have to refer you to Yu's picture pages link. So much fun and a fantastic sunset over SF.
A Fantastic Indian Summer weekend in the Bay Area.
